Azerbaijani MP Agil Abbas claimed that foreigners are being conscripted into military service in the country, calling for an investigation into the case.

Addressing today’s parliament meeting, the MP asked the chairman of the parliament’s Committee on legal policy and state building, Ali Huseynli, to investigate this issue, APA reports.

He claimed that Georgian citizens living in Azerbaijan, who reached the draft age, are being inducted into the army. “This is a serious matter that needs to be investigated. I'm not talking about the need to bring here and give citizenship to Azerbaijanis living in Georgia. But we need to resolve this issue,” said the MP.

Ali Huseynli said in response that he had not heard of such facts. “I don’t believe that a citizen of another country is being conscripted into military service in Azerbaijan. This is a serious claim. In any case, we will investigate such cases,” he added.
