The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Mid-Term Ministerial Conference that is being held in Baku under chairmanship of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov will be effective, said Ri Yong Ho, Foreign Minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

He made the remarks at the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Mid-Term Ministerial Conference, titled “Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development,” in Baku on Thursday, APA reports.

The North Korean minister expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for hosting this event.

"Today big countries are exerting pressure on small countries. I believe that this conference will contribute to international peace and sustainable development. It is impossible to achieve international peace, stability, sustainable development without international justice,” he said.

Ri Yong Ho stressed that the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference in domestic affairs of other nations are being deliberately ignored.

“The independence of small nations is being threatened by big countries in various ways,” he added.
