The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan commented on the reports about protests against the actions of the traffic police in Goychay

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov-APA. Today, some media sites have reported that residents of Goychay region held a protest against the actions of the traffic police and about an hour blocked the vehicular traffic.

Head of press service of Ministry of Internal Affairs Orkhan Mansurzade in response to a query of APA told that the widespread media reports are untrue.

According to him, the essence of the issue in the reports exaggerated and distorted. He noted that in the Goychay region, as well as in all regions of Azerbaijan, held periodically raids on road safety: “Among the reasons for the holding of the last raids in the area, you must specify the recent accident with the death of three pedestrians committed by drivers without a license, and interference caused by the movement of vehicles from trucks park on the main road Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlakh”.

“Only in the first half of October in Goychay district registered 313 traffic violations. Among the 22 perpetrators - truck drivers, disturbing vehicular traffic due to parking passes through the city of the highway Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlakh. It is their accumulation of the morning of October 15^th on the specified site and caused the short-term restriction of movement of vehicles on the highway” - said O. Mansurzade.

According to him, the heads of district and local law enforcement have met with those individuals who are trying to attract public attention, and listened to their complaints: “It was noted that the ongoing raids on road safety and other measures in this area are intended to ensure the safety of not only themselves, but also the residents of the entire area. Noted persons broke and the question that was completely exhausted after the explanatory conversations district leadership. Some of the same people who are interested in disturbing the peace and stability in the region deliberately distort the essence of the issue, trying to politicize it and spreading defamatory messages about the newly appointed chief of the regional department of the traffic police, trying to cast a shadow on his efforts to strengthen the rule of law, public order and safety. This is absolutely unacceptable”.

Orkhan Mansurzade also noted that the reports of the dismissal of the chief of the district department of the traffic police do not correspond to reality.
