Azerbaijan marks August 26 as Lachin City Day , APA reports.

The city of Lachin, the villages of Zabux and Sus came under the control of Azerbaijan on August 26, 2022.

Azerbaijan's great victory on the battlefield in the Patriotic War was confirmed on the political level as well, Armenia was forced to liberate Lachin region from occupation, along with Aghdam and Kalbajar.

According to the trilateral statement signed as a result of the Victory in the Patriotic War, Lachin region was handed over to Azerbaijan on December 1, 2020.

However, since the corridor of Lachin passes through the city of Lachin, the city is under the temporary control of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

On August 26, 2022, after the alternative road was put into use, the Azerbaijani Army moved to the city of Lachin, at the same time, the villages of Zabux and Sus were taken under control, and the Azerbaijani flag was raised in the city of Lachin.

It should be noted that on July 31, 2022, President Ilham Aliyev signed the Decree on the establishment of city days in liberated areas.

According to the decree, August 26 was established as the city day of Lachin.

City days are supposed to be solemnly celebrated.
