Azerbaijan exports 3.5 bcm of gas to Europe this year

In January-April this year, gas sales from Azerbaijan amounted to 7.6 billion cubic meters, which is 17.4 percent more than the corresponding period of last year, the Ministry of Energy told APA-Economics.

According to the information, 9 billion cubic meters of gas were sold to Turkey, 3.5 billion cubic meters to Europe, and 1.2 billion cubic meters to Georgia in January-April this year. 36 million cubic meters of gas were supplied to the BTC pipeline system during this period.

According to the report, about 2 billion cubic meters of gas were transported to Turkey via the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) during this period.

The country produced 15.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the first four months of this year. 4.6 billion cubic meters of gas were extracted from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block, 8.5 billion cubic meters from the Shah Deniz gas condensate field, and 2.6 billion cubic meters from SOCAR. Compared to the same period last year, gas production increased by 14.4 percent or about 2 billion cubic meters.
