More than 90 million cubic meters of “blue fuel” was transported in the first month of commercial operation through the Greece-Bulgaria connecting pipeline (IGB), which supplies Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria, APA-Economics reports citing IGB.
According to information, the total volume of natural gas transported through the pipeline from October 1 to November 1, 2022, amounted to 95 mln. cubic meters (1 billion 105 million 908 thousand kWh equivalent of electricity).
It is reported that the 182-kilometer gas pipeline connects the gas transmission networks of Greece and Bulgaria at Komotini and Stara Zagora and directly connects to Bulgaria's Trans-Adriatic Gas Pipeline (TAP). The total capacity of IGB is 3 billion cubic meters per year, and 1.57 billion cubic meters have already been booked on the basis of long-term contracts lasting up to 25 years.
"Currently, the amount of natural gas transported through the interconnector provides approximately 1/3 of Bulgaria's domestic consumption since the beginning of the heating season," the information reads..
