Azerbaijan's non-oil export increased by more than 23% in 2023

In January-March of 2023, Azerbaijan's total exports amounted to USD 7.7 bln, exports in the non-oil sector amounted to USD 912.2 mln, APA-Economics reports citing the the April issue of Export Review of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication of Azerbaijan.

Exports in the non-oil sector increased by 23.2% compared to the first three months of 2022.

According to the information, during January-March 2023, the export of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 6.9 times, and the export of sugar increased by 28.6%. The statistical value of the joint export of agricultural and agro-industrial products was USD 178.9 mln. Fruit and vegetable products exported during January-March 2023 accounted for 92.4% of the group of agricultural products. The value created by agro-industrial products, which occupy a significant place in the composition of non-oil and gas exports, increased by 56.3% compared to the corresponding period of 2022.

In January-March 2023, electricity (USD 281.1 mln) topped the list of non-oil goods exported. In this list, the export of hazelnuts (USD 37 mln) was ranked second, and polypropylene in the initial form (USD 36 mln) was ranked third.

During January-March 2023, non-oil sector goods worth of USD 339.9 mln were exported to Türkiye, USD 200.7 mln to the Russian Federation, USD 109.2 mln to Georgia, USD 29.7 mln to the Swiss Confederation, and USD 27.6 mln to Kazakhstan.

Non-oil exports in March 2023 amounted to USD 261 mln. During this period, exports of food products amounted to USD 52.2 mln, and exports of non-food products equaled USD 208.8 mln.

In March 2023, Türkiye (USD 66 mln) rose to the first place in the list of countries that exported the most goods related to the non-oil sector. In this list, the Russian Federation (USD 63 mln) was second and Georgia (USD 44.5 mln) was third.

In the list of non-oil sector goods exported in the third month of 2023, electricity (USD 53.8 mln) was the first, hazelnuts (USD 13.7 mln) were the second and primary form polypropylene (USD 12.4 mln) was the third.
