AzerGold: First step of geological exploration works in Kalbajar is completed

AzerGold CJSC geological exploration group has completed the first stage of geological exploration works in the area of Tutkhun noble metal manifestations, which is located in the Kalbajar district, which is included in the administrative territory of the East Zangezur economic district and has a total area of 85.56 km2, APA-Economics reports.

During June-December of 2022, surface active research-exploration work was carried out by Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) in the 8.29 km2 area cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance, including Bashlibel-Khanlanli, Orujlu-Aghyatag-Chorman fields. The resulting test samples were sent to an international laboratory for analysis in order to determine their element composition.

Reminding that Tutkhun is located in the territory of Kalbajar district, on the basin of the Tutkhun river, the right tributary of the Tartarchay. According to the study and digitalization of geological data of 1959-1960, the area is expected to have gold, silver reserves and industrially important copper metalization.
