“As a landlocked state, Hungary is very dependent on neighboring and other transit countries in the field of energy supply, as well as in the issue of investing necessary investments in this field,” said Minister of Trade and Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjártó, who is visiting Azerbaijan, said this during his speech at the 9th meeting of ministers within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor Consultative Council and the 1st meeting of the ministers within the framework of the Green Energy Consultative Council, APA reports.
Minister said that he believes that Hungary's energy supply is still safe today, stressing that this is largely due to the "Turkish Stream" gas pipeline, which is still operating at 100% capacity.
He recalled that some people once tried to prevent the construction of the belt and threatened sanctions, but the project was realized thanks to the brave decisions of the participating countries.
“If we had not constructed this pipeline, we would have faced very serious problems today,” noted the minister.
