Ministry wants support from EU for installing solar panels in liberated areas

The Ministry of Energy had a meeting with the delegation led by Lawrence Meredith, Director of Eastern Neighborhood and Institutional Building in the General Directorate for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission, APA-Economics reports citing the Ministry.

At the meeting, discussions were held on energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU), investment attraction in the field of renewable energy in Azerbaijan within the framework of the Economic and Investment Plan.

At the meeting, renewable energy projects implemented with international energy companies, and export routes planned for the purpose of transporting the “green energy” to be produced, to achieve the development of the territories as a "green energy" zone with net zero emissions and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% in 2050. Detailed information was given on the measures and plans implemented for this purpose, and the works carried out in the field of energy efficiency.

In this context, specific projects for which the financial support of the European Union is considered necessary have been proposed. Particularly, it was pointed out that financial and technical support cooperation regarding the Black Sea submarine power line, "green" hydrogen projects, building solar panels on the roofs of houses in liberated areas, building heat supply and energy efficiency in buildings is of great importance.
