Toyota halts production at 8 plants due to shortages

Toyota Motor Corp. announced on Tuesday that it is suspending production on 14 lines at 8 plants in Japan from May 16 to May 21 due to parts shortage resulting from COVID-19 lockdowns in Shanghai, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The company added that its May output will be revised down from 750,000 units to around 700,000 units. "The shortage of semiconductors, spread of COVID-19 and other factors are making it difficult to look several months ahead. Still, we will continue to make maximum efforts to deliver as many vehicles as possible to our customers at the earliest possible date," Toyota said.
