The construction of the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline will further strengthen the energy security of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, said Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov in his speech at the first Azerbaijani-Turkey Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the construction of the pipeline with 500 mln. annual transmission capacity will diversify gas supplies to Nakhchivan.
The minister also added that the agreement on the first stage of developing Shahdeniz field, has been renewed this year and within the framework of this agreement more than 10 bln. cubic meters of gas will be transferred to Turkey by the end of 2024.
In his turn, Turkey’s energy and natural resources Minister Fatih Donmez said Turkey hopes technical works by SOCAR and BOTAS will be completed soon, and gas pipeline will be constructed soon.
