Turkiye to produce 30% of gas it consumes, from Black Sea in 2026

“It is planned to complete the laying of pipelines to the seabed to transport natural gas from the Sakarya field in the Black Sea to Turkiye by the end of the year,” said Turkiye’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmez, APA-Economics reports citing foreign media.

According to him, the first production of natural gas from the field that was discovered in 2020, will start in 2023.

Fatih Donmez added that daily gas production is expected to be 10 mln. cubic meters in 2023, however, the production is planned to reach the maximum level in 2026.

“We target daily 40 mln. cubic meters of production in the second phase. We can reach it up to 50 mln. cubic meters. In 2026-2027, We will have produced 25-30 percent of the gas from this field, that will be used in the country,” the minister stressed.
