Retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan increases by 2.8%

In January-August of this year, AZN 30874.5 million worth of food products, beverages and tobacco products worth AZN 17426.0 million and non-food goods worth AZN 13448.5 million were sold to consumers in the retail trade network, State Statistics Committee told APA-Economics.

Retail trade turnover increased by 2,8 percent in real terms in comparison to January-August of 2021, as well as over food products, beverages and tobacco products increased by 2,2 percent, and non-food products by 3,6 percent.

In January-August of 2022, 51.6 percent of the funds spent by buyers on goods purchased in retail trade networks are food products, 4.8 percents are drinks and tobacco products, 13.0 percent are textile products, clothing, and shoes, 5.7 percent are automobile gasoline and diesel fuel, 5.0 percent are electricity. goods and furniture, 2.3 percent for pharmaceutical products and medical supplies, 1.0 percent for computers, telecommunication equipment, and printing products, and 16.6 percent for other non-food goods.

In January-August 2022, the cost of goods sold by economic entities of the non-state sector increased by 2.8 percent in real terms compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and accounted for 99.7 percent of the total retail trade turnover. Compared to the months of January-August 2021, retail trade turnover in real terms increased by 3.1 percent for enterprises, 1.0 percent for individual entrepreneurs, and 6.3 percent at markets and fairs.

During the reporting period, one person bought an average of 383.8 AZN per month in the retail trade network, including food products, beverages, and tobacco products worth 216.6 AZN and non-food goods worth 167.2 AZN.
