“I am very glad that after long term discussions, we will elect again new chairman of OSCE tomorrow,” EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said in his speech at the meeting of OSCE Ministerial Council, APA reports.

EU High Representative touched upon Ukraine conflict and situation in Belarus, as well as Nagorno Karabakh issue: “We welcome ceasing military hostilities. We believe that ceasefire agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia on November 9 with mediation of Moscow is the first step in the direction of comprehensive resolution. But ceasefire is not peace. We – Europeans well now it. Sustainable peace, as well as status of Nagorno Karabakh should be discussed yet. EU expresses its full support to the OSCE Minsk Group, which is a confirmed format. Let us allow OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to follow the issue. The EU is ready to contribute to these efforts and agreement leading to establishment of sustainable peace, and welfare, flourishing of the whole South Caucasus. We have declared that long-lasting conflicts in our region can only be resolved, if parties agree to resolve these conflicts in accordance with OSCE principles. It is about both Nagorno Karabakh, and Georgia and Moldova.

Stability and security in the OSCE region is a strategic priority for the EU. As EU, we will mobilize all of our opportunities and tools to reach the goal.”
