The UK Treasurer has designated Hezbollah as a terrorist organisation, it announced on Friday, APA reports citing Sputnik.

Justification for designating the Lebanon-based organisation was cited under the Terrorism and Terrorist Financing rules, with the group's assets set to be frozen.

Changes to the measures were taken as HM Treasury had only designated Hezbolla's military wing to asset freezing under UK government law.

HM Treasury broke the news following the heated conflict between the United States and Islamic Republic of Iran, following the Trump Administration's targeted assassination of al-Quds leader Qassem Soleimani in early January.
