 Czech Republic to strengthen the security of its diplomats in Russia

The Czech Republic will send their security agents to protect diplomats working in Moscow. The decision was taken after protests by Russians due to the demolition of the monument to Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Konev in Prague. The head of the diplomatic Department Tomas Peter said, APA reports citing RBK.

The foreign Ministry considers it appropriate strengthening measures for the protection of Embassy staff in Russia. “We (…) will direct the security staff directly from our Ministry of foreign Affairs at the Czech Embassy in Moscow,” he said.

Currently, the Ministry is waiting for the response of the Russian side. “We have not received any response on the incident in Moscow, nor on the incident in St. Petersburg, where the attack our Consulate General,” said Peter.

It clarifies the RBC, in April the activists of “Other Russia” held shares using smoke bombs near the building of the Czech Embassy in Moscow and consulates in St. Petersburg. The Czech foreign Ministry expressed concern over the incident and appealed to the Russian foreign Ministry.
