United Kingdom Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs George Eustice said on Monday that the negotiations about the post-Brexit relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union could be extended "if great progress were made this week," APA reports citing Teletrader.

Speaking in an interview for Sky News, he described this week as "crucial" when it comes to the negotiations, adding that the UK and the EU are "running out of time" and that a "breakthrough" is needed. Eustice warned that both sides would need a certain amount of time to ratify a potential agreement, stressing that it may be "quite difficult if you leave it too late."

"Businesses do need to know where they stand on January 1," he concluded.
