More areas in England may be put under a tighter lockdown this weekend, APA reports citing Teletrader.
According to the report, local leaders and health officials in Birmingham discussed placing the city under Tier 4 restrictions. Meanwhile, other regions that are currently in Tier 1 or 2 may be put into Tier 3.
The reports come after London and parts of the south-east and east of England were placed under Tier 4 restrictions after a new, more transmissible strain of coronavirus was detected in the country. The tighter restrictions include the closing of all non-essential shops and working from home for all those who are able to. Furthermore, households in Tier 4 areas are not allowed to mix but people can meet one person from one from another household in public space.
