Georgia temporarily cancels permits of conflict parties for transportation of military cargo through its territory

In connection with the tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan Georgian government has temporarily canceled the permits of conflict parties to transport military cargo by air and land through its territory, said Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri at the press conference held after the meeting of the Georgian Security Council, APA’s Georgian bureau reports.

It has been noted that the parties have already been informed in this regard.

Vakhtang Gomelauri noted that Georgia will not allow some destructive elements within the country and outside of the country to cast a shadow on friendly relations with Armenia, and Azerbaijan: “Our instruction is to further strengthen these relations. Georgian side once again stresses that it is ready to contribute to decreasing tension, calls on co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk group and international actors to take necessary steps to reduce the tension and continue negotiations. We have always been proud of the peaceful coexistence of different peoples in Georgia, including Azerbaijanis and Armenians. It is in our common interest to end the military conflict as soon as possible and restore peace.

He noted that the transportation of other civilian cargos through the territory of Georgia as a transit country is being continued.
