Robert Koch Institute (RKI) revealed in its update released Saturday that Germany registered 18,129 coronavirus cases in the past twenty-four hours, bringing the country's total to 2,873,190, APA reports citing Teletrader.

In the meantime, the cumulative number of deaths rose to 76,895, as another 120 fatalities were attributed to the illness.

Although the number of fatal outcomes seems to be leveling off, Germany had seen a spike in infections lately, prompting Chancellor Angela Merkel to suggest tightening coronavirus restrictions through the use of federal law.
