“US unilateral sanctions against Turkey will not affect to the Ministry of National Defense, Turkish Armed Forces, and our security forces” said Head of Turkey's Defense Industries Administration, Ismail Demir in an interview with Anadolu Agency, APA’s local bureau reports.
He has noted that the US sanction decision is not in the spirit of alliance.
According to I.Demir, this sanction will not be a serious obstacle to their activity: “Our institution implements the project, not the purchase. We do not have power to export directly. Our work is applied on the companies of defense industry. It means, this sanction will not have substantial effect. But, it does not mean that we will stop, on the contrary, we will be more active” he said.
The director has noted that S-400 that they bought from Russia is No.1 air defense system in its class.
Recall that United States Department of the Treasury has imposed sanction against four Turkish officials, including the Head of the Turkey’s Defense Industry Administration, Ismail Demir. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that the sanction has been imposed against Turkey because of purchasing S-400 air defense system from Russia.
