German Chancellor Angela Merkel asserted on Monday that the negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic will be felt in the coming years, APA reports citing Teletrader.

She added that "passing of the recovery fund and the EU budget" could help mitigate the damage done by COVID-19, and urged the European Union members to intensify efforts towards finding a solution acceptable to all sides.

Merkel warned that the fight against the pandemic requires more determination last week, while Germany's Economic Minister Peter Altmaier underlined her point earlier today, claiming that the COVID situation in Germany is not improving as fast as it was expected.
