Russian blogger Alexei Navalny cannot be transported yet due to his unstable condition, his spokeswoman Kira Yarmysh wrote in a Twitter post on Friday citing the hospital’s chief physician, APA reports quoting TASS.

"The chief physician said that Navalny was non-transportable. His condition is unstable," she noted, adding that his relatives’ decision was not enough for doctors.

Germany has sent a plane to transport Russian blogger Alexei Navalny, who is in intensive care at one of the Omsk hospitals, to Germany for treatment, APA reports citing the Bild newspaper.

According to the paper, the plane carrying specialists began its journey from Nuremberg to Omsk at 03:11 am (04:11 am Moscow time). The blogger may be transported to Berlin this afternoon or early in the evening.

The flight was arranged by the Cinema for Peace human rights foundation. German Chancellor Angela Merkel earlier said that Germany was ready to provide medical care to Navalny.

An ambulance aircraft with a team specialised in treating coma patients is due to leave Germany to pick up stricken Russian dissident Alexei Navalny on Thursday evening, Berlin-based human rights activist Jaka Bizilj told Bild newspaper, APA reports quoting NYTimes.

Navalny was taken ill earlier on Thursday with suspected poisoning and is currently in a coma fighting for his life in a hospital in the Siberian city of Omsk.

In 2018, Bizilj, a Slovenian-born activist and filmmaker, led a group of activists that arranged to have anti-Kremlin activist Pyotr Verzilov brought to Berlin for treatment after he was poisoned in Moscow.

"An ambulance plane with specialists for coma patients will leave this evening," Bizilj told Bild. "If Navalny is in a state to be transported tomorrow morning, the plane will immediately fly to Berlin. His wife will accompany him."
