NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stated on Monday that he has invited United States President-elect Joe Biden to the upcoming NATO summit expected to be held early next year in Brussels, APA reports citing Teletrader.

Speaking ahead of this week's ministerial meeting, Stoltenberg expressed his intention to present his plan on how to keep the alliance "agile and strong" in the future at next year's summit, claiming that "the time has come to review, to renew, to update NATO's strategic concept, because the security environment which we are facing has fundamentally changed since we decided the current strategic concept, back in 2010."

According to the official release, NATO foreign ministers will meet over the next two days to address key issues, including the assessment of "the global shift in the balance of power with the rise of China."
