Downing Street has picked Richard Sharp, a former Goldman Sachs executive, as the new chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), APA reports citing Teletrader.

Sharp, who spent much of the last year as an advisor to the British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak, was previously a member of the Bank of England's Financial Policy Committee.
