Ukraine has confirmed 17,858 cases of the coronavirus COVID-19 as of May 16, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov, APA reports citing Ukrinform.
"Over the past day, 528 people fell ill, including 49 children and 92 healthcare workers. Some 181 people were hospitalized. In addition, 21 deaths and 433 recoveries were recorded,” Stepanov said at a briefing on Saturday, May 16, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
The minister added that 8,960 PCR tests had been conducted over the previous day.
The largest number of coronavirus cases over the past day was reported in Kyiv region (49), Chernivtsi region (47), and Kyiv city (153).
On Friday, Kyiv authorities confirmed a massive outbreak of coronavirus disease in the Darnytsia residential facility for girls. A total of 81 people fell ill.
