Great Britain on Saturday, June 10, announced the provision of humanitarian aid in the amount of 16 million pounds to overcome the consequences of flooding caused by destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP. About this reported the government of Great Britain, APA reports citing foreign media.
The British government said in a statement that the UK Foreign and Trade Office will provide Ukraine with £16 million to support humanitarian partners who are able to provide assistance to the civilian population, including the 32,000 people affected by the floods.
The additional funds are in addition to a previously announced commitment of £220m.
It is reported that 10 million pounds will be directed to support the Ukrainian Red Cross, 5 million pounds to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and 1 million pounds to the International Organization for Migration.
The British Foreign Ministry will also send boats, water filters, water pumps and rubber boots to Ukraine.
The head of the Foreign Ministry, James Cleverley, assured that Britain will continue to support Ukraine in its struggle with the consequences of this disaster.
The European Commission also approved the grant to Ukraine assistance after the explosion of Kakhovskaya HPP. The first EU countries to send aid were Lithuania, Germany and Austria.
On June 8, Ukraine and the United Nations agreed on the plan evacuation of the population from the occupied Left Bank of the Kherson region after the detonation of the Kakhovskaya HPP, on the condition of ensuring the possibility of safe passage to the occupied territories.
On June 9, Belgium announced the transfer of EUR 3.5 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP.
