British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said he would be happy to be the new Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO), APA's Britain bureau reports.

"I've always said it's a good job. It's a job I'd love. Being Secretary General of NATO would be a fantastic job and the alliance is vitally important to our common security. I'll be happy to do whatever I can to help us sleep well at night," - said the minister.

At the same time, Ben Wallace made it clear that he is satisfied with his current position.

Note that on May 15, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed that he intends to leave this position after the end of his term of office in the fall of 2023. He also expressed confidence that the alliance countries will be able to find an excellent successor for him. J.Stoltenberg has been the Secretary General of NATO since the end of 2014.
