Clash between train and locomotive in Spain leaves at least 30 people injured

Around 30 people have been injured, two of them seriously, when they crashed on Sunday night in Vila-seca (Tarragona) a regional train and a freight locomotive that, APA reports citing Adif sources.

The collision occurred around 9:50 p.m., when the locomotive, a Captrain company machine that did not pull wagons, “the signal has been skipped, which was in stop indication” and has rammed the regional train that covered the route between Barcelona and Tortosa and in which some 75 people were travelling.

As reported by the Medical Emergency System (SEM), which has moved six crews to the accident site, has attended “in situ” some thirty wounded, most of them minor, as well as two serious and eight less serious.

Of the latter, 3 have been transferred to the Santa Tecla Hospital, 3 to the Joan XXIII, 2 to the Salou Primary Care Center (CAP) and another 2 to the Cambrils outpatient clinic.
