Czechia's President-elect Petr Pavel said that he plans to travel to Ukraine accompanied by Slovak President Zuzana Caputova, according to a report published by Slovakian agency Pravda, APA reports.

Pavel was also cited as saying that Caputova welcomed the idea of visiting Ukraine during their meeting on Saturday afternoon after Pavel's election victory. Zelensky commented on Pavel's success, saying in a Twitter post that he looks forward to their close cooperation "for the benefit of the peoples of Ukraine and the Czech Republic and in the interest of a united Europe."

The news comes after the retired army general defeated Andrej Babis in the first major elections in Europe this year. Pavel is considered a resolute supporter of Ukraine amidst Russia's invasion, the report concluded.
