The persons detained during the special operation carried out by the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) against the ISIS terrorist group are ethnic Azerbaijanis, the lawyer of the detainees Ioseb Natroshvili said, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports.
He noted that the case against which the detainees were accused was kept secret.
"I defend the rights of four of those arrested. I haven't met them yet, so I don't know their positions on the matter. I learned from the investigator that charges will be filed against them today. In total, 7 persons were arrested. 6 of them were detained yesterday and one in April. He is a citizen of Türkiye who was detained in April and placed in the detention center of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The 6 persons detained yesterday are ethnic Azerbaijanis who are citizens of Georgia," he said.
Note that, the SSSG has announced that based on the evidence seized during the operation, terrorist activities carried out in the territories of the foreign countries have been determined, and taking into account the danger, it has quickly shared the information with partner countries.
