Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday he hopes the Black Sea Grain Initiative between Russia and Ukraine will be extended once again after it expires on May 18, APA reports citing Teletrader.

"We used the favorable atmosphere created in relations with the leaders of Ukraine and Russia [Vladimir Zelensky and Vladimir Putin], both in exchanging prisoners and organizing a grain corridor. We continue to work in this direction and look forward to extending the deal," Erdogan told the national broadcaster TRT.

Moscow and Kyiv agreed on the safe export of grain and other products from Russia-controlled Ukrainian ports in July last year and have extended the deal multiple times since then. Earlier this month, the Kremlin argued that the initiative mediated by Turkey and the United Nations isn't working and that the prospects for extending it aren't very good.
