The international exercise Vigilant Knife with the participation of military personnel from Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom will be held from August 29 to September 2 in the Rovaniemi region, according to the Finnish Defense Forces, APA reports citing RIA Novosti.
"The Vigilant Knife field exercise, which will take place in Northern Finland in the Rovaniemi and Rovajärvi regions from August 29 to September 2, 2022, will be attended by international partners from Sweden and UK. From Sweden, about 880 people will take part in the exercises, from the UK – about 80 people” – the message says.
From Finland, up to 200 military personnel and about 1.3 thousand conscripts and reservists of the Defense Forces will take part in the exercises.
The goal of the exercise is to increase tactical and technical interoperability, as well as to improve the ability to host the Swedish army forces in Northern Finland and organize the host country support needed for the units, the report said.
The exercises are part of the training of the ground forces, approved for the summer of 2022, the Finnish military specifies.
