Former President of Croatia: “Sanctions are not very effective, people suffer”

“Stopping the ongoing war in Ukraine, preventing its spreading, defending our values, post-conflict period, and peace are among our key priorities,” said Croatia’s Former President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović at the IX Global Baku Forum on "Threats to the Global Order", APA reports.

“Of course, none of us has the right to exercise pressure on Ukraine to stop the war, to sign a peace agreement. It may be only a decision of the Ukrainian government, Ukrainian people.”

Former President noted that imposing sanctions against Russia, also impacted these countries, problems of energy prices, high inflation, and food shortage emerged: “Sanctions have not always been effective and people are suffering. However, at the same time, it is a tool in international law.”
