Leonid Kuchma, Viktor Yushchenko, and Petro Poroshenko appealed to world leaders, EU member states, the United States, Canada, China, Turkey, others, and the United Nations.
They asked all available diplomatic resources to help the Ukrainian authorities to save the lives of civilians and military Ukrainians at the Azovstal plant: "The city of Mariupol is now almost completely destroyed by the Russian army, which is trying to hide the traces of its crimes. We call on you to join in saving the lives of heroic Ukrainians."
