French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne and her government survived on Monday the vote of no confidence following the vote at the country's parliament, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The call for her dismissal, tabled by a number of parties led by the New Ecological and Social People's Union (NUPES) and the Liberties, Independents, Overseas and Territories (LIOT), received 278 votes, falling just nine votes short of the needed 287.

The vote of no confidence was proposed after Borne announced the government will trigger article 49.3 of the constitution to impose the pension reform, raising the retirement age by two years to 64. The decision, as well as the way it was imposed, caused a series of protests throughout France.
