Head of the ruling party Georgia “Georgian dream” Irakli Kobakhidze stated that foreign agents revealed themselves in the course of protests against the adoption of the relevant law, APA reports citing Interfax.

“The withdrawn draft law on foreign agents has already brought results since foreign agents have ‘self-lustered’,” Kobakhidze said.

In his opinion, they revealed themselves as extremist actions during rallies in Tbilisi. Kobakhidze also accused the United National Movement party of trying to carry out a coup d’etat in the country with the help of controlled non-governmental organizations, and the bill on foreign agents was supposed to be his pretext.

“The protests over the Foreign Agents Bill were an absolute farce based on lies. This is confirmed by the processes for the adoption of a law on foreign agents, which are currently taking place in the European Union, Canada, and Great Britain”, Kobakhidze pointed out.

Formerly Irakli Kobakhidze told that there were certain forces in the country that took advantage of the current situation, endangering young people.

In early March, mass protests took place in Georgia against the adoption of the law on foreign agents. On March 10, law was withdrawn from parliament.
