Georgia not to join sanctions against Russia

Georgia will not join the financial and economic sanctions against Russia, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili told journalists, APA's local bureau reports.

According to him, joining the sanctions could harm the country and the population. The Prime Minister noted that the decision not to join the sanctions was made based on the national interest.

"We got acquainted with the activities of our international partners after the start of the conflict in Ukraine. I mean economic and financial sanctions. I want to emphasize clearly and unequivocally that we will not participate in financial and economic sanctions, considering our national interests and the interests of the population. It will only harm the country and the people. I bear responsibility for the people of our country, "Irakli Garibashvili said.

He noted that as Prime Minister, he guided only the national interests of Georgia in both domestic and foreign policy.
