German Bundestag supports heavy arms deliveries to Ukraine

The German Bundestag voted on Thursday in favor of sending heavy weapons to Ukraine, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The motion titled Defending Peace and Freedom in Europe - Comprehensive Support for Ukraine was approved with a 586-100 vote. The proposal includes supporting ceasefire efforts, as well as calls on the government to "continue and, where possible, accelerate the delivery of equipment and at the same time expand the delivery to include heavy weapons and complex systems ... without endangering" Germany's defense capabilities.

Germany has long refused to send weapons to Ukraine, but earlier this week, the country's Defense Ministry changed its stance and announced it will provide Kiev with anti-aircraft tanks.
