The German company, one of the largest importers of Russian gas, has agreed to pay in rubles, APA reports citing Rheinische Post newspaper.
German energy company Uniper has decided to transfer payments to a Russian bank.
"Our plan is to make payments to the account in Russia in euros," said a spokesman for Uniper.
Note that Uniper had previously considered paying for Russian gas in euros.
The company also said that their steps should be in line with European sanctions.
Uniper noted that Russia's suspension of gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria does not concern Germany in any way.
