Germany has supplied Ukraine with 18 Leopard 2A6 Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) while Portugal donated three, APA reported citing ILKHA.
Germany sent 18 Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine, chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Monday.
“Yes, we delivered Leopard tanks as we announced,” Scholz told a press conference with Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte in Rotterdam.
Portuguese Defense Ministry said that the 3 Leopard 2A6 tanks donated by Portugal had already arrived in Ukraine.
“Portugal continues to support the Ukrainian resistance against the illegal invasion of Russia,” the ministry wrote on Twitter.
The Leopard 2 is a third-generation German main battle tank (MBT). Developed by Krauss-Maffei in the 1970s, the tank entered service in 1979 and replaced the earlier Leopard 1 as the main battle tank of the West German army.
