Former British Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Liz Truss joined on Thursday a group of Conservative lawmakers opposing a bill banning wind farms in England, APA reports citing Teletrader.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's Levelling Up bill would extend the ban on onshore farms, instead focusing on offshore ones.

A vote on the bill has already been postponed due to an amendment earlier this week. "This really is an issue that unites opinion from all wings of the Conservative party. We should let local communities decide whether or not they want onshore wind, perhaps linked to sensible incentives from energy companies, and not apply a blanket ban," said Simon Clarke, who authored the wind farm amendment, now supported by around 20 Tory MPs.
