A man was arrested in front of Buckingham Palace after throwing objects suspected to be shotgun cartridges, Scotland Yard said on Tuesday, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The police noted the man was detained on suspicion of carrying an offensive weapon and was found to be in possession of a suspicious bag but stressed that no shots were fired and there have been no injuries to police officers or civilians. The law enforcement added a controlled explosion was carried out at the site as a precaution. "Officers remain at the scene and further enquiries are ongoing," Chief Superintendent Joseph McDonald said.

The incident happened just days before the coronation of King Charles III, who was not at the palace at the time of the arrest.
