Twitter Inc. CEO Elon Musk revealed on Tuesday that James Baker, Twitter's deputy general counsel and former FBI general counsel, "was exited" from the company earlier in the day, APA reports citing Teletrader.

Musk pointed out that the decision to fire Baker was made "in light of concerns about [his] possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue."

Before being hired by Twitter, Baker was directly and actively involved in the FBI's investigation into now-invalidated claims about collusion between then-presidential candidate and later US President Donald Trump and Russia.

Baker was mentioned in the "Twitter Files," a series of reports by journalist Matt Taibbi, who unveiled deliberations among Twitter leaders about the censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story. In one exchange of messages, Baker notably wrote that the source material for the story could have been obtained through hacking, despite lacking evidence to support his claim. The existence of the laptop and some of the emails on it has since been verified even by the left-leaning media.
