NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary-General for Emerging Security Challenges James Appathurai, who is on a visit to Georgia, said on Wednesday he was “actively involved” in assisting Georgia in developing cybersecurity.

In an interview with TV Imedi, Appathurai said the war in Ukraine had changed “dramatically” the security situation in Europe, pointing out the latest NATO ministerial had decided to increase assistance to countries who are “at risk from Russia.”

"With my new status, I am actively involved in these processes to help Georgia on issues such as cybersecurity, which is a very important topic. I am here to discuss it with the Government of Georgia, and the Parliament, to discuss new proposals and initiatives,” the NATO official said.

James Appathurai will address the Committee on Defence and Security of the Parliament of Georgia today and will talk about the alliance’s cooperation with Georgia in cybersecurity.
