North Atlantic Treaty Organization Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg (pictured), said Wednesday that the seizure of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant by Russian forces poses a "serious threat" to safety and security, APA reports citing Teletrader.

In addition, this fact poses an increased risk of a "nuclear accident or incident and endangers the population of Ukraine, neighboring countries, and the international community," Stoltenberg told the press.

He further added that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) must be authorized to inspect the area and call for the withdrawal of Russian forces from the site.
