"NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and Finnish President Sauli Niinistö will discuss the application for membership in the military alliance," said Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference with the President of the European Parliament, APA reports.

"We will discuss two issues: first, Finland's potential application for NATO membership, as well as finding a temporary settlement for the interim period. There can be no uncertainty for Sweden and Finland to choose their own since it is related to the right of each European country to choose their own future sovereignly and independently. Russia's threats to prevent Sweden and Finland from applying for NATO membership show once again that Russia does not respect the choice of each country. "The application for membership is a sovereign decision of Sweden and Finland, and if they apply we, as NATO, will sincerely consider it and expect that the process of confirmation of membership will realize quickly," Stoltenberg said.
