NATO spokesperson Oana Lungescu on Sunday said the alliance is closely monitoring the situation regarding the possible deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus, APA reports citing Teletrader.

She blasted Moscow's nuclear rhetoric as "dangerous and irresponsible," adding that NATO will remain vigilant. "We are closely monitoring the situation and we have not seen any changes in Russia's nuclear posture that would lead us to adjust our own," she stated.

Lungescu emphasized that NATO allies fully comply with their international obligations and that the alliance remains committed to preserving peace and stability in the region.
