At least 22,000 civilians, including 250 children, have been killed in Mariupol amid Russia's military intervention in Ukraine, the city's Deputy Mayor Petro Andriyushenko told TF1's La Chaine Info (LCI) on Tuesday, APA reports citing Teletrader.

"The situation is terrible. The soldiers and civilians still in the city have no water or food," he said, adding the authorities have found at least one more mass grave in the city's area. Andriyushenko also labeled humanitarian corridors that lead to Mariupol as Russia's "big lie," saying that "the humanitarian corridors have never worked and do not work."

Commenting on Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's warning the world is at risk of a nuclear war, Andriyushenko stated such a threat should be taken seriously as "in my opinion, the conflict in Ukraine is already the beginning of the third world war. It is a clash between two civilizations, between European values and the Russian regime."
